First time in the sky

The girls went on an adventure in the skies and took their first flight to Denver Colorado for my cousin's KC's wedding.  We took a lot of time to prepare for the trip with lists and lists of to do's and items to pack in preparation for the big trip.

Two car seats, two strollers, three suitcases, one diaper bag and a backpack was all we needed to make it to the airport.

The girls slept the entire flight.  They enjoyed a bottle at take off and did not wake up until after we landed.  Even during the turbulent air that made my tummy rumble the girls continued to sleep peacefully in our laps.  We were lucky on our flight out of Indy to Denver to have a seat in between Sam and I for extra room while we held the girls in our laps.

When we landed in Denver the girls rode the Tram which took us to baggage claim.

We made it in time for the rehearsal dinner where my grandparents, the girls GREAT GRANDPARENTS met the girls for the first time.  It was a special moment for 4 generations to be together at a family event.

We enjoyed a beautiful rehearsal dinner and enjoyed spending time with the family.  The girls were wonderful travelers and adapted well to their surroundings.

The next day we had breakfast with Sam's aunt and uncle who lived very near to our hotel.  We were so happy they could meet the girls and we could catch up over breakfast.

Next, we headed over to my aunt and uncle's house (parents of the groom) to spent the day hanging out with the family.  It was one of my favorite parts of the wedding weekend.  We all live in different cities and states, and even countries, so it was very special to spend time together.

The walk was down a long path, so KC waited until he could see his bride close up before he saw her for the first time.  Geoffrey told KC when to turn around.  This enabled the couple to see each others expressions together for the first time.  I thought it was so sweet.

After the ceremony during the reception the girls wanted to stretch out and play.  We out the girls down on a blanket and they wiggled around and shared lots of laughs before dinner

The girls were troopers and they lasted until around 9pm Denver time, or 11pm Indy time.  Sam, is a super dad and he took the girls home while I was able to stay and celebrate with my family.  I two-stepped with my brother which was a highlight.  I also was able to see my grandparents dance on the dance floor.  It was quite a party!

The girls slept the entire flight on the trip back to Indy.  We were not as lucky on the return flight, and we could not sit in the same row with an empty seat.  But we did sit across the aisle from each other.

We were so glad we were able to spend time together with my family and could celebrate KC and Kelly's wedding.  Until our next adventure..... can't wait for the opportunity each and every to create memories with the girls.  We are glad you could embrace traveling, I see many family trips in our future.

Rice Cereal

Well.... the girls are growing up.  We started rice cereal with the girls for the first time on Monday July 29th.

Both girls were perplexed by the taste and texture of the cereal.  They did not consume a large amount, but they looked cute in their Harrods bibs from Grammy K's trip to London.

The girls have tried the rice cereal for one meal every day this week.  Hopefully they will develop the skill of actually eating instead of just spitting out the food.  Below are pictures from their first night of cereal.

6th Months- Wow where does the time go??

We had another GREAT check-up on Tuesday July 23rd for the girls 6th month check up.

Anna – 10.9 Lbs (Still smaller than Sam when he was born) – That puts her in the 10% Percentile of her adjusted scale for weight!!  (Last time she was in the 5th percentile of adjusted scale! So she is growing faster than the normal babies)

Length - 23 ¾ Inches – 3% Percentile of Normal scale and 50th percentile adjusted scale

Head – 40.7cm – 9% of Normal Scale

Playful Anna

Sweet Anna

Kathryn – 16.9Lbs – That puts her in the 70th Percentile of a Normal scale!!!

Length - 26 ½ Inches – 77th Percentile

Head – 43cm 67th Percentile

Anna is eating about 3 to 4 ounces on average per feeding, and she eats 6 times a day.  Anna is still enjoying her extra calorie filled formula for preemies.  Kathryn will eat about 5.5 to 6 ounces 6 times a day of normal baby formula.

Their sleeping schedule during the day is in 3 hours increments starting at 6am.  They are up for an hour and a half, and then take an hour in a half nap.  We feed Kathryn at 10pm and she will sleep until 6am.  We feed Anna at 11pm and she will wake up at 6:30am.  Hopefully we can continue to adjust the girls bedtime forward in order to help us get a little more rest.

Anna's neck strength is very strong.  She can lift her head up easily.  She will often move her hands back and forth along with her legs and look like she is swimming with just her chest touching the ground.  She is almost rolling over, but not yet on her own.

Kathryn's neck strength is ok, not that strong.  We spend extra time with her on her tummy to help strengthen her muscles.  Normally when we lay her on her tummy she just sucks her thumb.  However the new activity is laying on her tummy on the boppy pillow and hanging down the musical light up star in front of her.  She will push her self up and hold her head up for over 5 minutes when she has something good to look at.  haha  :)

On Sunday July 21st, we enjoyed a fun day outside.  First in the morning I took Kathryn for her first shopping trip.  She wore her Mommy's little shopper shirt, and we headed to target.  She enjoyed looking at all of the merchandise, people, and bright lights.  While we were at target she picked out a pool.  Daddy set it up when we got home.  We tried to put the girls feet in the water, but they were not interested.  Then we played outside under a tree on the blanket and in the grass.  The girls loved it.  What a fun Sunday!

This is the first weekend where we were all healthy, and it was great!  We went over to the William's house on Saturday for dinner and play time.  The kids all played together, and the adults had a great time catching up.  Thanks for a fun afternoon out, Williams family!

Sick Girls

June 24, 2013

Well..... unfortunately our girls caught a cold.  We were not looking forward to this day, but we knew one day it would happen.  Thankfully we have a wonderful pediatricians office that is open on the weekend.  On Saturday June 22,  Kathryn woke up and had a lot of congestion in her chest.  It was rattling and I was afraid it would impact her breathing.  So we took her to the open doctor office hours on Saturday morning.  They treated her with a breathing treatment nebulizer, antibiotics, and steroid.  Anna was also very stuffed up and had a lot of congestion but was not in her chest.  They gave her an antibiotic too.  We tried to rest over the weekend with the girls.

The doctors office wanted to make sure everything was still ok with Kathryn, so they asked us to come back on Sunday.  Kathryn still had a bad cough, but they said it was high enough and lose enough to not be a concern.  Sam and I would fake cough to try to get Kathryn to cough to clear her chest with the congestion.

The fun part about going to the doctor is to have the girls weighed.  Kathryn weighed 15lbs and Anna weighed 10lbs.  Yeah, for growing girls.

In order for Kathryn to stay still while we gave her the nebulizer treatments, we would turn on the TV and she would keep her head straight forward and would not move at all.  We know, it is not good for a baby to watch tv, and we never have the tv on around the babies, but it was the perfect trick to get Kathryn to complete her breathing treatment successfully.
